You can stroll along the beach boardwalk and pier, playing games, eating delicious seafood, and buying tacky souvenirs to remember your travels. There are plenty of state parks to picnic at and breweries to sample local beer if you’re over 21 years old.
3: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Visiting Allentown, Pennsylvania, provides a historical trip you won’t forget. A little over two hours from town are man museums and historical landmarks to see and learn from. Some of the museums you can purchase tickets to include the Museum of Indian Culture, the Liberty Bell Museum, and America on Wheels Museum.
While you can easily do this in a day, if you’re thinking of staying for a weekend, be sure to look for lodging in the heart of the city.
4: New Bedford, Massachusetts
Roughly 185 miles from town is New Bedford, Massachusetts. This town has a strong history regarding the whaling industry. There’s the Whaling National Historical Park and the Whaling Museum, where you can learn about the history of whaling and its impact on the world’s oceans.
Another great activity is visiting the Travessia Urban Winery. All their wines are created with locally grown grapes. Alcohol is intended only for those 21 years and older.
5: Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Forty-five minutes past New Bedford is Cape Cod. Whether this is your only destination or your final stop after visiting New Bedford, you’ll want to add this to your list. There are plenty of beaches to relax on, hiking trails to walk, and fantastic seafood restaurants where you can get a hearty bowl of New England Clam Chowder.
